Surreal Fantasy

I am often faced with a descriptive identity crisis when choosing words to articulate best what it is exactly that I create. I have Surreal, Fanart, Oddities, Self Defense, Photography, home decor… The list is nearly endless on how I can go about to write and describe all the creations under the RubiSlippers umbrella. Which is correct? What is true? What describes all of this? That’s just it. ALL OF IT! Why try to squeeze myself into a box when I have an endless ability to create and expand on those creations?

Surreal: Having the qualities of Surrealism: Bizarre. A Mix of Fact and Fantasy.

That is the definition and I truly feel everything I create falls into that. Blurring the lines of reality and fantasy to create the Surreal. One area that this muddles in my mind the most is when it comes to my pop-culture or Fanart creations. Yet isn’t that in a way the most surreal? Creating beautiful and bizarre accessories that can bring you a moment of joy, nostalgia, passion, or adventure? Fanart in itself is to me inherently surreal. Taking something fantastical and making it even more so but putting your own spin on it? Sounds surreal to me.

Perhaps the point I am trying to make is that I now, more than ever, feel like the description of my business and creations is endlessly accurate. I create Surreal Elegance for every day life! That is my goal and that is what I feel I am doing.

This has recently been even more personified in the October opportunities to not only sell surreal things, but to also embody them in cosplay and costume! I feel like my creative spirit is even more alive when I am able to transform myself! The Surreal Fantasy isn’t going anywhere! Stay tuned for more and enjoy watching my journey! If you like my silly reels, my creepy oddities, my fanart, my perspective, or my creations, stick around and gear up for more! More art, more creating, more cosplay, more adventure!
